Valentine’s day is just around the corner! Have you prepared gifts for your lover? I prepared a gift for my mother’s birthday!! I made a nice letter and bought Swarovski earrings for my beautiful mother. She loved it so much.
Valentine’s day is “Saint Valentine’s Day, commonly known as Valentine’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Valentine” There are different ways to celebrate Valentine’s day. It is indeed well-known that couples exchange cards and gifts with love in most of countries. However, in Korea, it is the day that a girl declares her love for guy who she loves by giving pretty chocolate. So there will be a lot of girls making handmade chocolates and giving those to boys. You might ask “what about boys?”
There is so called ‘White day’ on 14th of March when boy has a chance to show his love to girl by giving a letter with candy. It might sound very cute, but I was always complaining why boys get chocolate and girls get candy? I love chocolate :p Of course many see this with critical eyes that it is only company’s silly trick to sell products with full of decorations.
Whatever people say, I think it is one of special days for couples to have a little bit of time to show their love. Or for singles, it could be your day to meet some hot single guys. 😉 Here are some tips which gifts to buy and how to enjoy your valentines day!

It has been a year since I registered my first semester in Mannheim University (MMM). Although it was fun to study in Germany, I have had some troubles during my first semester in Mannheim University.
– It is difficult to find a room in Mannheim as a student. Of course, there is an easy way to apply for a room through Studentenwerk Mannheim. However, this process also takes 8 to 10 weeks to get a contact that they could offer you a room. Or you could go right away to Studentenwerk building. If you are planning to get your own apartment, consider that you have to get ‘visiting appointment’ and then you have to wait until owner will contact you.
– If you are planning to apply for my master in management program, you should study beforehand some statistic or derivatives (i mean math). Most of exchange students (as well as international students) was surprised in how many cases math is involved. According to a source from dean’s office, 40% of students failed ‘business economics I’ exam in 2011.
– I have got the worst grades in my life time. I thought I did good job, however, it turned out to be disaster. Maybe I have a problem with writing an exam in a German way. For me, I expect more group activity and paper work. Since Mannheim University is very academic-oriented high education institute, in most of courses, you will be evaluated based on 100% final exam.
– I have over-heard in cafeteria from international students without German skill, it is difficult to live in Germany. But hey! what do you expect when you study Business in Germany although it is English track? We study in neither England nor America. Just learn some basic German then it will be okay. Though I was disappointed that mannheim university does not support for international students to deal with government paper issues. If you go to alien registration authority (Auslaenderbehoerde), you should not expect officers to speak in English…. yes… you may answer all in German.
Though I have earned very precious lessons throughout my first semester in Mannheim. Hopefully I get better on my grade and experience more in a good way.
